Susan E. Crocker
Susan Edwards Crocker served as Vice President of Human Resources and Associate Services for BMW Manufacturing Corp. (1993-1998). She established, and was responsible for, the functions of recruitment, training, associate services, safety, health, security, compensation, benefits, environmental engineering, and associate relations. The BMW plant start-up was the fastest in automotive history, going from green field to production in just 18 months.
Before joining BMW, Mrs. Crocker spent 15 years with Sara Lee Corporation where she gained extensive experience in human resources management, training, policy development, and communications. Prior to becoming a plant manager for Sara Lee, she was an area human resources manager for the facilities in Morganton, NC.
Susan Crocker holds a B.S. and Masters degrees from North Carolina State University, with honors and was the North Carolina Woman of the Year in 1987, NCSU Outstanding Alumnus in 1987 and nominee for South Carolina Outstanding Human Resource Professional in 1998.
Susan Crocker founded her company in 1998 to provide outsourced human resources, consulting, and benefits brokerage to clients in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Georgia. She has served as an expert witness for major law firms in the Southeast. She served on the American Red Cross and Compass of Carolina boards. Ms. Crocker has 36 years of human resources experience and is a master trainer for Development Dimensions International. Since 1998, her firm has specialized in human resources consulting for regional banks in NC and SC.
Becky Johnson is a native of Upstate South Carolina and a graduate from Clemson University. Becky began her career as a recruiter for a staffing firm where she specialized in recruiting for businesses and job placement for individuals in a variety of industries. In this work, Becky developed a love for relationship building that allowed her to source top quality talent that were the perfect fit for her clients’ culture and needs. She handled all forms of staffing from skilled labor to executive placement.
For nearly a decade, Becky has worked in all aspects of Employee Benefits. Her role has included quoting and market studies, open enrollments, employee communications, annual renewals and day to day benefits administration. She works with large and small businesses, in both self-insured and fully-funded plans and in a variety of industries. Her specialty is in benefits compliance and she is an expert in the Affordable Care Act. Becky’s goal is to be a resource for employers and their employees, not just at the point of sale, but throughout the plan year, and at renewal.
Becky has completed thorough training that allows her to work with individuals on the ACA Marketplace and is a licensed Life, Accident and Health Producer in South Carolina.
Lorri Mercer, a native of North Carolina, has a Bachelor of Science in Human Resources from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and has over 25 years of Human Resources experience.
Before joining Susan E. Crocker, Inc., Lorri worked in Human Resources in the manufacturing industry, specifically for injection molding and automotive companies. Lorri learned a lot about the manufacturing industry including ISO 9000 training and implementation requirements, HR systems and guidance to protect companies from loss, effective policy and procedures, industry trends and was appointed safety facilitator for one employer.
Before moving into manufacturing, Lorri worked in the banking industry for several years, ultimately rising to Human Resources Manager where she was responsible for all benefit and insurance programs, onboarding and offboarding, development of policy and procedures and payroll.
Both of these industry backgrounds make Lorri a great addition to the Susan E. Crocker, Inc. team and will be a great resource for all of our banking and manufacturing clients.
Her broad experience also includes benefits, employee relations, workers compensation, knowledge of federal and state requirements, recruiting and staffing, administrating new hire orientations, affirmative action, wage surveys and policy development and documentation.
Hailey Crocker Miller
Hailey Crocker Miller is a native of Greenville, SC and a graduate of the University of South Carolina. After college, she worked for Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough, handling many aspects of their Marketing needs, with a strong focus on client events and continuing education trainings. After 5 years, she moved back to Greenville and worked in the Marketing Department for ScanSource, Inc. before moving into the business-side of the company as Marketing Product Manager.
During those 10 years, Hailey was afforded the opportunity to frequently travel across North America and interact with people of all types. That experience has given her a wonderful appreciation and ability to connect with people of all backgrounds and hierarchies with an organization. After 10 years in the Marketing field, Hailey decided to change course and focus her talents on Human Resources when she joined Susan E. Crocker, Inc. as HR Administrator. In this role, she manages all aspects of Human Resources for her clients – ranging from onboarding and offboarding, payroll, benefits, worker’s compensation claims, and much more.
Hailey has completed certification courses for Payroll Law and HR Generalist and is a licensed Life, Accident and Health Producer in South Carolina.
Connie Watkins was employed by Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP for the past 23 years as a CAS accountant. She assisted clients with controller related needs such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, financial preparation, budgets, and payroll preparation. Among the tax returns and audits she prepared were payroll tax returns, sales tax returns, and workers compensation audits. She had direct contact with the clients. She has been a QuickBooks Pro Advisor for the last 8 years assisting clients with set up, training, and additional software needs. She has been in the accounting profession for over 40 years. She had her own bookkeeping practice when she lived in Texas. She attended Austin Community College taking all accounting courses with a 4.0 average.
Susan E. Crocker, Inc. was one of the clients that she worked for in 2011 and 2012. Connie came to work for Susan E. Crocker, Inc. full time in November 2016 as the firm accountant and HR Assistant. In this position, she prepares payroll and assists client with additional needs.
